Addiction can be defined as being bound by a particular person, substance, thing or activity in an unhealthy manner. Historically, addiction has been understood as a habit forming dependance both physical and/or psychological to someone or something. However, as Christians, we know that any dependance, even to good things can lead to a negative strong hold of the mind, body and spirit.

The most common destructive habits like drug addiction and alcohol addiction are no longer the only types teenagers and young adults are exposed to. Obsessions with food addiction, sleep addiction, relationship addiction, video game addiction, work addiction, etc. are as equally harmful and can become detrimental to your child's mental sanity, bodily health and relationship with God and others. It therefore require addiction recovery.

The fulfillment of peace, love and joy that comes genuinely from the Holy Spirit is replaced with artificial and temporary idols.

Once an addict is able to deal with the root issue by honestly admitting, openly confessing and humbly repenting of their obsession(s) as the sin of idolatry and pride, then and only then can true recovery begin and inner-heart transformation take place.

The curriculum used is based on the original Christian 12-step program, which acknowledges Jesus Christ as the Highest Power. It is called The Twelve Steps, A Spiritual Journey.

We strongly disagree with the idea that says, "Once an addict, always an addict." The Word of God assures us that our hearts can be continually recreated; the spirit of our mind can be renewed and made right; our lives can be transformed; the new man can be put on; old things are passed away and we become new creations in Christ.

It is, however, true that a long-life battle exists between the flesh and the spirit. Living a life of recovery is simply walking daily in the spirit. Galatians 5:16, tells us to "Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh". Some think that one has to attain a certain status of righteousness in order to qualify to "Walk in the Spirit." The opposite is true; Galatians clearly states that overcoming addictive desires is preceded by living life in a way that feeds the spirit.

Studying the Word of God, prayer, attending church, christian fellowship, growing fruit of the spirit and worship are all ways of "Walking in the Spirit."  This is the victorious christian way of life that guards the healing and assures ongoing recovery of a recovering addict.
